Q4 2008 Purchase Provisions

Alright, winter break is coming soon. So how am I planning to purchase games/computer parts? Here's the idea. I'm not going to spend a lot this time around.

  • Need for Speed: Undercover -- Wii or PC, have not decided.
  • Gears of War 2 -- XBOX 360
  • AMD Phenom X4 9550 (may be delayed)
  • Sonic Unleashed -- Wii (maybe)
  • Dance Dance Revolution Hottest Party 2 (maybe)
  • Samsung 2220BW 22" LCD screen (subsidized)

See, less than last year... lol.

Really? Another Apple rip?

If Vista wasn't bad enough, the kids at Redmond copies Apple Mac commercials as if Vista wasn't much a MacOS X copy of its own. Like seriously, is the think tank at Microsoft really out of innovative ideas to warrant a photocopy of other companies in order to sell licenses of products that imitates the looks of that exact product's commercials?

Biggest tech EPIC FAIL to date?

When it comes to writing software that works, Microsoft doesn't have a good record. Notoriously known for their "system stop errors". I found an article on Gizmondo that highlights the most epically embarassing Blue Screen of Death outing to date. Microsoft has reached new heights in amazing the public audience and this time, it's somewhere that MILLIONS of people were able to see.

Best Error Message 2008

So far there have been many software coming in and out, but when it comes to errors, no one does it better than Google.

Google Chrome's error message is by far the funniest. This error can be found if and when your browser tab crashes.

Oh Snap!

Google Chrome Review

Alright, Google Chrome came out and let's take some time to review what this new browser has to offer.

Project KNod

Pronounced nod, it is a project for me attempt to theme KDE to resemble the Brotherhood of Nod faction. As I've described on Facebook:

In celebration of the long decade of the Command & Conquer series (and specifically the Tiberium universe). I've took the time to start a lil' hobby project to make a desktop theme basing on the Brotherhood of No.

Well, the project is basically done, so what did I do to the desktop? Well, here is the the final product:

Operation AMD Update

Operation AMD has been going slower than planned due to the monetary provisions have been stalled due to the fact that I quit my job mid July. However, that doesn't mean that Rev. B won't be completed. So, what does Rev. B comprise of?

  • AMD Phenom X4 9550 2.2 GHz 3600MT/s Quad Core Processor
  • Internal Memory Card Reader
  • Extra USB ports

The bottom last two points have been installed already. All that is left to complete Rev. B is the quad core processor.

Due date: Winter 2008.

Operation: Step Up

Wow, it's been a LONG while since I updated my blog. However, recently I've been working on a new project. It does also help me recycle my old machines by refurbishing it into a dedicated StepMania (DDR clone) machine. So how am I going to do this? Well, take a look at this sketch I made:

Alpen Gamers' Day Out: Stuart & Adrien's Going Away Party

Well, it was an exciting day of course. Having Alpen Gamers on another day out is utmost exciting. We hit Pacific Mall and Market Village then went to Wasabi for dinner. As usual the service is crap, but the food was good. At Pacific Mall, David got his R4 cartridge for his Nintendo DS, Alex went and bought some daggers and Anna bought a red Mario mushroom for her keys.

Wonderland visit

Well, at least I visit my people at Alpen Games today. Wasn't too eventful, photo-guys and foods were shocked that I don't work at Wonderland anymore (apparently I knew more people than I thought I did xD). I finally finished my so called achievement since I finally got at least a Brazilian soccer ball. I got a Portugal ball for my bro as well. It was great.
