Windows 7 Release Candidate to Expire March 1
Windows 7 probably generated the most widely used release candidates ever used by people around the world. This is evident since many people still run the RC versions instead of jumping on the retail versions.
Bad news for those people as starting Monday March 1, 2010, anyone who continues to use the release candidates versions will be greeted by a popup saying that you're not using a legal version of Windows. On top of that, the computer will shut itself down without any warning and without any options to save your work.
So, with this said, how do you avoid your work to be lost without being saved? Either downgrade to Windows XP or Vista or you can go and buy Windows 7. For most people, the logical step is to upgrade to Windows 7. If they love Windows 7 so much why go backwards? At the same time, it should be noted that Windows XP SP2 will no longer be supported by Microsoft soon, so if you're on Windows 7, best to go with retail.
Right now on NewEgg, Windows 7 Home Premium OEM is going for C$119.99 which is an awesome deal. It's much cheaper than getting it retail. Only down side to this is that there won't be any Microsoft support in terms of asking questions. You are your own support line. It should be fine for computer regulars and enthusiasts. That and the fact that the license isn't transferable.
