Operation Dai-Q
It's been months since I've updated this blog. One interesting development has happened since I posted and it's rather ironic that my latest post was of a computer upgrade plan which is called Operation Bludozer. Well, AMD's new CPUs codenamed "Bulldozer" was released to the public two days ago and well, needless to repeat what people have been screaming out of their lungs, it was a flop. It was a disastrous launch for the consumer market as it couldn't keep up with single-threaded application or lightly threaded applications. Needless to say, Operation Bludozer is dead.

So what am I to do now for an upgrade? Well, simple, create a new course of action, and this is what Operation Dai-Q ("large bridge" in Cantonese) is all about. So what is Operation Dai-Q and what does it entail?Operation Dai-Q is going to be a rather important milestone as it brings me back to somewhere I left in 2007 and is rather surprised that I'm going back ... and that place is called Intel. That's right, the company I basically abandoned in favour of AMD when AMD had the best performance:price ratio. Now that's no longer true, I'm now back with Intel.
So what will Operation Dai-Q entail?
- An Ivy Bridge CPU
- A Z68 or Z77 Motherboard from ASUS or GIGABYTE
- 16GB of DDR3
The plan is to have the rig built around when Ivy Bridge lands on store shelves and hopefully that's in March. The build window is between March - May of 2012. If you guys are interested in keeping track with this new Operation through its paces, always keep up with my blog here and make sure to read the changelog because any detailed changes are reflected there, only major changes are found in my blog.
